MyRepChat is a text app that allows users to match the compliance requirements of the financial industry. With the help of integrations, clients can continue to use a text messaging platform that they are used to. The app was developed in 2017 and is very function rich. My main goal was revamping the UI and changing the flow to make the app more user friendly.
Challenge
The main challenges for the app included reviewing the placement of the components. Redesigning the app should not make existing users feel lost but a redesign was needed to restructure the app and remove redundant data and functions.
Solutions
User Research
Meetings were conducted with stakeholders to determine what they liked and didn't like about the app and to find out what new features they would like to have on the app.
These interviews with long time users of the app ultimately helped to shape the flow of the app. The challenge faced there was creating a balance between the individual needs of users and company goals.
UI/UX Audit
A comprehensive audit was conducted on the app to identify UI/UX issues. Since messaging is the most crucial function of the app, a design report was initially created to identify major issues and provide solutions.
Revamped UI
A total of 90 screens were created to capture the entire app - truly feature rich!
Timezone Differences
An additional challenge was how there was a 10 hour time difference between where I was stationed and the client and so we utilized Figma comments to complete work asynchronously.
Design System
A design system was also created so that developers could easily have access to all the assets needed to revamp the app.
Result
The UI/UX of MyRepChat was fully audited and revamped with the suggestions to address the needs and expectations of the users and improve the overall usability of the product. The changes brought are expected to increase user engagement, and boost customer satisfaction and client retention rates while reducing customer support inquiries and complaints.
